Sunday's Bits & Pieces #28

Hi!

Today i have a Christmas card made with just bits and pieces from my scrap bin, in this case paper scraps.

I found some Christmas paper strips in my bin, so i pulled those out and played with the placement on my card. Once i like it, i adhered them to the cardbase.

I also have been playing with denim. I had an old pair of jeans that i have been cutting up and die cutting. So i used a couple denim flowers that i had cut. I punched some holes in the flower centers and added brads to them.

I adhered the flowers to the card and stamped my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink September Blog Hop

Hi!

Its Papertrey Ink Blog Hop time again! This month the challenge was to use fabric or felt in a wrapping of a gift.

I wasn;t really sure what i was going to do, but eventually (like yesterday!) it came to me. A few weeks ago i found two mercury glass globes for my mom's birthday. And yesterday i was thinking on how could i have wrapped it if it was a Christmas gift.

I started with 4 fabric strips, i used wine crepe black satin fabric. i placed the four strips flat on the table, like a plus sign. Place the globe (this globe has a side that is slightly flat, so it dosen;t roll) in the center of the fabric, gather at the top of the globe and tie with twine. Ta-da!  Super easy, right?!?

So to jazz it up a little i added a tag! And of course i have to use something PTI!  :)

I die cut some dark chocolate felt and added a eyelet at the top. After die cutting the banner i stamped Happy Holidays in dark chocolate ink, then i adhered it to the tag. Last i added 3 dark red glitter brads below the banner.

Thanks for stopping by!

Moxie Fab Repetition Challenge

Hello!!

How is everyone? I've been super busy, but i finally had a little time to make a couple cards today, one just in time for one of Moxie Fab's Challenges: Repetition. It ends tonight! I'll be showing another project tomorrow and hopefully another one later the week if i can find the time to make the card!! :)

My repetition is the 3 flowers, you know the rule of 3 and all that! And as i was assembling the card i first started with the cardbase horizontal, but i thought that was kind of expected so i flipped it vertical.

I curved the flowers down to draw your eye to the sentiment, which i stamped in black.

I made the flowers from some crepe black satin, in a nice wine color. They are super easy to make! Everything is cut by hand, no patterns! For these flowers, i used the wrong side which is matte.

First cut a strip of fabric, wider the strip, bigger the flower. Then i cut the strips into squares (roughly). Next i just cut circles from each square, which are no ware near perfect!

Next light a candle and hold each circle up to (but not touching) the flame. It will melt and curl the edges, the edges then turn a nice black color. I think that is the fabric, its not from burning! But don;t hold it too long or it will catch on fire! :)

I made each flower with 3 layers. To adhere each layer, i made a hole with a tiny hole punch, then used a brass brad to hold each layer together.

Last i used some green cardstock and made some leaves for each flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hampton Art - Dad

Hello!

Check out my project over at Hampton Art. Its a great quick card for a Dad. You know how hard it is to make cards for the men in your life, and because alphabet stamps are used, you can make your card say anything!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #27

Hi there!!

For those that visit my blog, i know i've been MIA the past two weeks!!! My classes started and all of the sudden i got a lot of hours at my part time job and i had a project for a friend to complete. This weekend is the 1st that i have had off in two weeks, so i have been enjoying it making card (and yes a little studying!!)

I made many cards and projects this weekend, but i can only show you one! The others are for Hampton Art and can be seen on their blog in a few months! And hopefully this coming weekend i can show you the project i worked on for a friend!

On to the card!! Its been awhile, so i wanted to make a card for CAS-ual Friday's. This weeks challenge is embossing, any kind of embossing.

For my card i did dry embossing. I found a big piece of green cardstock (this card will be made from the bits and pieces in my scrap drawer!) and used an embossing sleeve to get a notebook impression. Then i inked up the raised portions with a brown ink pad.

Next i used a texture tool and distressed the edges. Then i found piece of pattern kraft paper, i stamped the image on one side and again on the other. I cut out one of the girls from the red plaid side and adhered it to the other side. I also stamped a G at the top and bottom for 'girls'

I wrapped twine around the embossed panel and added the girls card with a tiny paper clip. Oh and i almost forgot i added a little white distress Stickles to the red plaid girl.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! While i probably will not be posting as often because of school, hopefully another 2 weeks will not pass without a post!! :)
