Kiss a Frog

Hi there!!

How is everyone!! A little cold... a little snowy here!! (ok, really a lot but who's counting!)  We got about 7ish inches over New Years and more is expected tomorrow!

So i'm not really a New Years resolution kind of person, but this year i have made a crafty resolution that i'm really hoping to keep! Like everyone i have lots of crafty stuff, tons of stamps, embellishments, pattern paper, dies etc.  So i have decided to not buy any more crafty stuff!! Gasp!!!

Now there are a few exceptions:
  1. Adhesive and cardstock - I will definitely run out of both before the end of the year, and you kind of need these to make cards!!!
  2. Gift Cards - Anything crafty wise i purchase with gift cards will not count, cuz its not my money!! I have a couple gift cards from Christmas and will probably get another for my birthday later in the year... i'll use these when i really, really want something that i can;t live without!!!
  3. Prizes - If i win something ------> still not spending my money!!
  4. Custom Orders - On occasion i get custom order from my etsy shop, so any supplies i might need to complete an order will not count!
  5. Design Team Purchases!  - I'm not going to count these, because having a good round collection helps me support and show off their stamps that much better! (hey, that's my story and i'm sticking to it!!!)  :D
This will force me to use what i have, and i have a lot!! And i think i will save a lot of money, which is always nice!! :)  As the months go by i'll let you know how it goes!! It will be especially hard when my mom wants to go to Micheal's or Joann's, but i'm committed!!

Ok, so on to my card!! I whipped up this card for the CAS(E) this Sketch! I also used some new copics to color the cute frog image!! Simon Says Stamps has bundles of easily blendable copic colors and i went to Micheal's and was able to find some of the green colors. I really liked it, but alas, do to what i mentioned above i will NOT be buying anymore :(

I used the cute frog from The Alley Way Stamps Enchanted set, colored with copics and cut it out. I also used a self inking tool that i received with my World Card Making Day prize package. It added dash lines across my card.

Last i adhered the frog to the cardbase with foam tape and stamped the sentiment!

  1. What a great resolution! I would like to do the same thing, but I'm thinking I might not be able to live up to it....know your weaknesses, right? Love this card, the purple base is such a great backdrop for the frog!

  2. How adorable is your frog, 'royally' perched on his purple paper, sporting his princely crown! Your resolution: inspiring! I should adopt part of your 'exercise restraint', too, given the purchases I've made (although I didn't dive in fully with the recent Copic marker sale I found...but there's still time to reconsider..gahhh!!) Applauding your willpower; delighting in your creativity!

  4. Now that is one kissable frog, Dana!! I love this!! I started 2013 with the same resolution you did and I made it all the way to June. Then I went a bit nuts! Sigh. I then started my NBUS movement, which at least forces me to try and USE at least one item of new schtuff on each card and has helped me curb the purchases somewhat. It's SO hard when we visit each other and see wonderful things! It's also hard when we do CAS cards that don't require a ton of product ... but that's not gonna change. Oh well, as long as we're having fun, righ?!! Hugs, Darnell
