Happy Birthday

Hello!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will be doing lots of studying and lots of crafting!! But before i got started i wanted to share a card i made for one of the Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenges, Color Recipe Cards. I picked the recipe by Laurie Willison because i need to make a baby card for a cousin. From my PTI stash i had picked out a flower set and a baby set, but as i tried arranging the stamping and die cuts, well... it just wasn;t working so i went in another direction and made it in to a birthday card instead!

First i die cut a stitched rectangle from white card stock. Then i used the poppy stamp from PTI's Botanical Silhouette set (PTI's 2010 Anniversary stamp set). Since this was meant to be a baby card, i used the second generation stamping with the stems and flowers. But even though i used Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst for the flowers, after the second generation stamping, you can't really tell which color is which. It's not bad, but i had hoped for some variation!!

After the poppies were stamped, i used the dandelion stamp with Lemon Tart. but it was really really light (no second generation stamping here) that i pulled out Summer Sunrise. I used the light orange with the small dandelion stamp, and stamping it off before adding it to the Lemon Tart dandelions.

My panel is about 1/4 smaller then a 4.25 x 5.5 card base and to save time from trying to match some card stock, i cut another panel that would fit my card base. With Hibiscus Burst ink pad i colored around the edge of the bigger panel, no need to color the whole thing because my stamped panel is adhered to the bigger one.

Next i cut a strip of Kraft card stock and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set at the right of the strip. I trimmed the strip so it was only as wide as the stamped panel, then added it to the card with foam tape. Last i added a few pink and white sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you are in the midwest and northeast, stay warm!!!
