Hello,
Is it really Sunday already?? Sunday means tomorrow is Monday and its back to work! So i'm going to enjoy today to the fullest, especially with the nice weather we have been have lately! :)
Today's card was inspired by Barb's photo here:
She is having a great inspiration challenge: Barbles Challenge #2, make sure you check it out, it ends 1/31. From the photo i took the grey of the cat and looked through my scrap papers and found a real nice dark red/pink pattern paper and a solid piece that went well with the grey cardstock i had. I looked through my cat stamps but didn;t really find anything that would work for the idea forming in my head.
Instead i used an outline flower and stamped it 3 times on the pattern paper and cut each out. With the card stock i cut a couple stripes and notched one end on each stripe. Then i lightly inked the bottom edges of the stripes along with inking the flower edges.
For my grey cardbase i inked up a background stamp with versamark. I added the stripes and then the flowers with pop up dots. Last i added grey pearl embellishments to each flower center.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

Barbles Challenge #2 - Second Card
Hello!
Today i have another card for Barb's Second Barbles Challenge. Barb has some great photos for inspiration and some really great prizes! Check it out here, you have until 1/31 to participate!
Today's card is inspired by this pic:
I really like the little sparkle the petal has, so pretty. I have a big Lily stamp that i hadn;t used yet, so i figured now would be a great time to break it out!
I stamped the Lily in white ink on white paper, then embossed it with clear kaleidoscope powder. When i started my intention was to also tie it into PTI Make it Monday but after coloring it, i didn't want to die cut a shape out of the middle.
To color it i used a clear block and added a few drops of PTI's Autumn Rose ink and spritz it a couple times with pearlized water (this gives it a nice sparkle similar to the yellow Lily). Then i added water as need. This is the 1st time i have used PTI's ink to color an image, it was similar to using watercolors, and i will definitely be trying this again with other PIT's inks! When i was done i used a baby wipe to clean up the embossed areas. Next i cut out the Lily.
I struggled a little with what to do with it after i cut it out. At first i had a pattern paper picked out but after taking a break and coming back, i changed my mind. Instead i stamped a script across most of a card and for the bottom part i used the ink pad and directly applied it to the cardstock. Where the 2 meet i used some tissue tape the pleat some ripples across the card.
I added the Lily to the card front with pop up dots and added 3 dark pink embellishments to the Lily's center. Then i hand cut a stem from green cardstock and distress it with ink and added it to the card.
Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop
Hello,
So i thought tomorrow was the 25th, but realized today was the 25th when i got to work. So rather then having the post all ready and scheduled, i am doing it now as i watch American Idol. :)
The challenge this month at Papertrey Ink is to be inspired by your favorite project from last year. This card is by far my favorite!!

I knew this was the card as soon as i saw the challenge. I really like the shape of the card and as i thought about it the rectangle card would make a cute penguin.
I started with black card stock and stamped flourishes in white ink and embossed it with a clear kaleidoscope powder. From white cardstock i traced an oval shape, folded it in half and trimmed a inch or two off until it was the right size. Then i used it as a template to cut another from white card stock. On this piece i stamped snowflakes all over with versamark and embossed them with the clear kaleidoscope powder. I adhered this to the black body.
From a scrap piece of orange paper i hand cut a triangle for his nose. Then i die cut some black and white card stock circles for his eyes. And i thought he needed some eyebrows so i hand cut some from gray card stock.
Last i thought he needed a scarf to keep him warm. I braided 3 peices of red yarn and then wrapped it around him. I then die cut a tiny black heart and stamped stay cool in white and tucked it into his scarf.
Thanks for stopping by!

Moxie Fab Challenge - Map to Your Heart
Hi,
I have a card for Moxie Fab's Map to Your Heart challenge, i actually have been thinking of this card for awhile so it was great timing that Moxie Fab is having a map themed challenge. To play along see the post here, but hurry the challenge ends tomorrow.
I started with my computer and typed up Marco Polo and See You Soon! using a free font. After i printed it out i die cut an oval around Marco and Polo and trimmed See You Soon!. I used the die to trace around the oval and after cutting it out i matted it behind each word.
Next i cut some tiny hearts and adhered them to just below each word. I used pop up dots to adhered each word to the card front. With a pencil, then a black pen i drew little bubbles below each oval. I adhered the sentiment strip across the card. Then i tied some black twine around the card and tied it in a bow. Last i adhered the panel to a cardbase.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #4
Hello,
Today i have another card using elements from my scraps and leftovers. The card is made mostly from a left over piece from my Christmas cards. I cut one of the panels too short so i couldn't use it, instead i used it to experiment with it. I adhered the tissue tape across the card, but didn;t really like it for my Christmas cards, so it went in my left over drawer.
When i was routing in my drawer this week i found it again and remembered that this months Paper Crafts Challenge was winter projects. Luckily I'm just in time as the deadline is 1/23. Most of the work was already done, i used a big snowflake stamp and inked it up in blue ink and spritz pearlized water. Then with a few small snowflakes i used white ink. Ink the edge with white and added the tissue tape and twine bow.
To spruce it up a bit i stamped winter wishes in white on a dark blue tab and adhered it to the card front. Next i used twine and made a couples x's by the tab and at the bottom left corner. Then i rounded the corners and adhered the panel with pop up dots to a kraft card.
Thanks for stopping by!!

Barbles Challenge #2 - 1st Card
Hello!!
Tonight i have a card for Barbles Challenge #2. Barb has some great inspiration photos and even prizes, make sure to check it out here. There are 5 different photos to get your card mojo going, my 1st card is inspired by this photo below and by Barb's card here.
I am also entering this card in CAS-ual Friday's Challenge Penguin Suit - only black and white cards. After i saw the CAS challenge the idea for this card started forming and i had to get it out and made, even though i had plan on posting another card i made for Barb's challenge, but instead i'll post that card in a few days :)
Anyway, on to the card :) I have a couple bird dies that i have never used and i think this one worked pretty good. I cut out a bunch from white cardstock and adhered each on the card.
Next i die cut one bird from black card stock along with a black strip i cut free hand. I adhered the strip then added the black bird with a pop up dot.
Have a great night!

CAS-ual Friday's - Highs & Lows
Hello,
Today i have a card for CAS-ual Friday's challenge, this week is scallops. I die cut some scallops from striped pattern paper. Next i die cut some more scallops, but i matched the negative to the first scallop i cut and adhered it to the card base.
I stamped a TV image on pattern paper in black ink and edge it with a dark blue ink. Then i used a white opaque pen and colored in a part of the TV screen. Then i used some of the dark blue ink and filled in one of the knobs. I adhered the TV to the card front with pop up dots.
Next i stamped Hey Dad in black ink next to the TV. I used a heart from the same set and stamped it on red paper, cut it out and adhered it next to the sentiment.

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #3
Hello and Happy Sunday!
Today's card is made with paper scraps and a few left over embellishments. I found in my stash of scraps a kraft pattern paper and trimmed it about 1/4 short of my kraft cardbase. Next i found the orange flower in my embellishment drawer. I had already layered the flowers and button, tied with a bow, i just added some ink to the flower petals. I also dug out the leaves already die cut from some green card stock.
Next i found a long vellum strip. The top was already rough, i must have tore off the top part at some point. I adhered this strip across the card and then added the leaf and orange flower.
Last i stamped Birthday in black ink on the vellum, then stamped Greetings below on the pattern paper.
Thanks for stopping by!!

It's a Clean & Simple Kind of Day
Hello,
Today i have a card for Clean & Simple Online Card Class, CAS-ual Friday's and entering this into Hero Arts Love Challenge. The challenge this week at Cas-ual Friday's is to use chipboard and at Hero Arts the theme is all about love.
So for my card i used the sketch from the Online Card Class and rather then having the outer square have a pattern, i used it on the interior squar. I used Hero Arts Lauderdale Tree background stamp for the pattern.
I only used 2 elements at the bottom, in this case birdrs, because i only had 2 ... and i thought it fit better with the sentiment anyway. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right corner.
The birds are chipboard and i covered one with some pink pattern paper and the other i stamped and white embossed a dot and dash background. Then i mixed a little liquid pearls with water and painted the bird. Last i adhered the birds just above the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #2
Hello,
Welcome to Sunday's Bits & Pieces #2, this is part of a new years resolutionish post i am doing every Sunday, featuring cards made with paper scraps and leftover embellishments as the main focus. Today's card features a lot of leftover embellishments. I started with the label shape already die cut from kraft and stamped with a black border. It was edged with orange ink, but i kind of covered it up edging the label with dye distressing ink.
Then i found a good size piece of pattern paper that had a nice distress text. To spice it up a bit i found solid circle stamp with dash marks that i thought went well with the border and dots on the label. I stamped the circle in a dot formation over the patten paper. Last i ink the edge with distress ink.
I wanted to use as much paper as possible so i went with a 5 x7 card and added a strip of black from my scrap bin. I die cut the edge and adhered it just under the my custom poka-dot paper. Next i tied thick black twine were the pattern paper meets the black cardstock. I adhered this panel to my cardbase.
Just Because is the sentiment i choose for the label and stamped it in black ink, then adhered the label to the cardfront with pop up dots. Last i adhered the flower and butterfly to the top right corner of the label.
Thanks for stopping by and i hope this inspires you to use up those paper scraps and extra embellishments!

CAS-ual Friday's and Bits & Pieces
Hello and Happy New Year!!!
I hope everybody had a happy and safe New Year! Today i have a card for CAS-ual Friday/Market Street's Block Party Challenge. The challenge is to use Kraft and Twine along with extra incentive to play at Market Street's Block Party by using one of their stamps or a free digital stamp.
I also have a New Years Resolution here on my blog, and that is to use the bits and pieces in my scrap files and drawer. As you can see in the 2 photos below i have lots of paper scraps. Behind my scraps are stickers, rubons and chipboard embellishments shorted by theme, which i have had for way too long!! Next to this i have a plastic mulit-drawer cart with one drawer that is filled with stamped pieces, leftover die cuts, and embellishments that didn;t make it on cards.
So every Sunday in 2012 i am going to post at least 1 card using my leftover embellishments and scraps as the main focus of my card(s). I am calling this Sunday's Bits & Pieces, hopefully by the end of the year i will had made a good dent!
So to kick off the 1st Sunday's Bits & Pieces i made a card for CAS-ual Fridays challenge. First i used a used a piece of scrap Kraft and trimmed it to fit my card front. With a ruler i measured about 1/2 inch all the way around and pierced wholes all the way around the panel. I sewed pink twine like yarn around the panel then tied it in a little bow and attached a tiny tag. I stamped Love is Brewing in pink on the tag.
The coffee cup is Market Street's free digi stamp. I sized it on my computer printing it out on copy paper to find the right size for my card. Then i used 3 paper scraps, a text, pink paisley and pink card stock. These scraps where about the size of a index card. I taped each scrap to a piece of copy paper and ran it through my printer... to my surprise it actually printed and didn;t jam the printer!
After printing the cup 3 times i cut out the cup from the text paper. Then cut the circle out of the paisley paper and just the heart from the pink card stock. Next i layered the heart and circle on the text cup with pop ups and added it to the panel with pop up dots. Last i used a pencil to copy the placement of the dots coming out of the cup, then used a black pen when i was happy with the dot placement.
Have a wonderful day and i hope you will stop by next Sunday for another card made with scraps and leftover embellishments!
