My Favorite Things Stamps - Innovation Master

 Hello!

This is my last card for My Favorite Things Stamps 2020 Card Design Superstar. It's for the Innovation Master category. Be warned it has a lot of pictures!!!

I wasn't planning on entering one for this, but Friday night after work I was trying to fall asleep, my mind was wondering and I started thinking about what I could do. Eventually I though about making an magnetic card with images that can me moved around and then can make their way to a fridge or other magnetic board.

So I made a trip to Michael's yesterday and found some magnetic sheets and gave it try! I used MFT Jingle All The Way and stamped all the main images and then stamped the presents, reindeer and Christmas tree three times.

The above card is the card I'm entering in the contest. But at the end I had so many images, that I made another card and I still had a few left over. So I figure I'll include a little bag with the extra's, that way a kid can play with a bunch of images. Oh, and as you can see the magnet images stay in place even when the card is standing.

The magnet sheets came rolled up, so while I was coloring and die cutting the images I put the sheets under my glass craft mat so they would flatten a little!

After a lot of coloring I trimmed a magnet sheet, so it was about 1/2 inch smaller then my card bases. I used foam tape to adhere the magnet panels to the card bases.

For the images I used the image dies to cut the magnet sheets, then adhered each image to the matching magnetic cut. Next, I stamped two sentiments and then adhered them to the magnet sheet and trimmed them up.

The next photo's I moved the images around, so they are different from the images above!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!

My Favorite Things Stamps - Clean & Simple

 Hello!

I'm back with my second card for My Favorite Things Stamps 2020 Card Design Superstar contest. This card is for the Clean & Simple category. And like my first card this one is a Christmas card, too.

For this card I use a very old MFT die called Christmas Tree Cutout. I started by cutting the tree out from some scratch white card stock to make a 'stencil.' In the photo I placed black card behind my die cut so it would be easier to see in the photos.

Next, I cut down a panel of black card stock so it would be about 1/4 inches smaller then my blue card base. I placed the 'stencil' over the panel and used some blue tape to keep it in place. Then I started adding vertical lines, inside each layer of the tree.

I went with non traditional colors, more muted opaque gel pens, that show up really nice on black card stock. Starting with a line up of colors, I just went round and round threw my line up, working my way up each layer of the tree. For the trunk I used one of the colors that looks brown/grey.

Then I cut the Merry part of the die from black card stock and used one of the green gel pens to color the letters. When I do this I always color the edges, which was a little tricky with a gel pen! I did do two layers of the green to get good coverage.

With a T-ruler, I adhered the Merry on top of the lined Christmas tree. From my stash I found the perfect green star button to add to the top of the Christmas tree. Last, I added the panel to the blue card base with foam tape!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be stopping by tomorrow with my last card for the Card Design Superstar contest!

My Favorite Things Stamps - Coloring Virtuoso

 Hello!

Today, I'm sharing a card I made for the My Favorite Things Stamps - 2020 Card Design Superstar, Color Virtuoso. Instead of the usual coloring with alcohol and blending, I used stippling as my coloring. It's also called pointillism. I've been wanting to do something like this for awhile but when I saw the design contest, I thought it was time! I did pointillism way back in my high school art classes!

I pulled out all my MFT stamps and dies and was feeling Christmas-y, as all three cards for the contest are Christmas! For this card I went with Jingle All The Way.  I stamped one of the santas, little girl and presents.

For my stippling I used some fine point colored markers. When stippling, you randomly add the dots. The more dots go where its darker. I also mixed a couple of the colors together. Two browns for the ground and two skin colors.

I added light blue dots for a sky and stamped Jingle All The Way above the images. Then I trimmed it down so it was about 1/4 smaller then my blue card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back later tonight with my second card and then share my third card tomorrow!

MFT - Innovative Master

Hello!!

This is my second card for My Favorite Things SuperStar Challenge. It's for the Innovative Master challenge! Basically, I stamped two MFT images and cross stitched them! I've been a cross stitcher for about 20 years, about 5 years more then I've been paper crafting! I've been wanting to try this for awhile, some might not think its innovative, but I think at least is unique!!

Because the design is a stamp (MFT's Cat-itude) and not a design made for cross stitch I used 28 count white Evenweave, this makes half cross stitches easier. This also helped with the actual stitching, because there were lines that fell in between stitches, so I had to decide whether to stop the image or go outside the line. And of course, curves are always a challenge even if you are making a design specifically for cross stitch!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things - Cat-idtude - Cross Stitch

But, anyway I used DMC thread (colors used at the end) and I picked the colors from a current cross stitch project. I stitched it over the weekend. When I was done I used My Favorite Thing Stitched Oval die to cut the fabric.

Then I created a frame with the same die and one smaller. I cut it from Kraft cards stock and I inked the edges with Papertrey Ink's Classic Kraft ink. From gray cardstock, I freehand cut the metal pieces at the top of an embroidery hoop.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things - Cat-idtude - Cross Stitch

I also cut some cardstock with the largest oval and adhered it to the back of the stitching. That way it has some support. Then I adhered the kraft 'hoop' and metal pieces.

While that all dried, I worked on my card base. I was going for a wallpaper like look. First I used a watermark pen and ruler to add the lines. Then from the Cat-itude set, I stamped the little flower three times each with watermark ink. I wanted subtle stamping but still wanted to see it.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things - Cat-idtude - Cross Stitch

When my hoop was dry I added it to the card with foam tape. Last I rounded the corners. I decided not to add a sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!!

MFT - Clean & Simple

Hello!!

I'm stopping by with two cards that I made for My Favorite Things Stamps SuperStar contest. This card is for the Clean and Simple challenge and I'll post the other one shortly after in a different post!

My mojo has really really been lacking, like a lot!! And I've tried everything without much change, so I thought maybe doing these challenges would help!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things - Ocean Fun

Anyway, for the Clean & Simple Challenge, I used MFT Ocean Fun. I started by stamping the different ocean creatures using different inks. For each one, I used at least two ink pads or a pad with multiple inks. A list of inks used is at the end of this post. When that was done I fussy cut them all out. On a couple of the fish, I used a few Spectrum Noir Markers to add a few freckles!

Next, I used a circle die and lightly sketched it on a panel of white cardstock. Then I used Distress Ink and a wave stencil and inked in where the circle is. When I was done I erased any pencil marks.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things - Ocean Fun

From another panel, I cut the same circle in the same spot. I added two of the fish to the back of the panel, so you could see them from the front of the window. Near the bottom, I stamped the sentiment Keep Swimming in black ink. I also stamped some blue bubbles and waves.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things - Ocean Fun

I added this panel to the inked panel with thick foam tape. Then I added the other fish, two of them with a thinner foam tape. I added a few metallic sequins and last I added the panel to a blue card base.

Thanks for stopping by!! I'll be back shortly with my other MFT card!!

Next, I placed a stencil on a white panel. Then I used AP1 & AP4, DP1 & DP4 to color in the stencil. I trimmed the panel down a little and added it to a grey cardbase.

Okay on to my cards!! I was in the mood for some coloring so I figured I would create a card set! I went a bit summer with my cards too! I'm ready for some warm (but not hot) weather! These cards use a few different stamp companies, but for all, I used Photoplay Paper Summer Day Dreamers collection pack.

I started with My Favorite Things Coffee Cup die and die cut it four times from white cardstock. Then I used Sweet Stamp Shop Explore The Sea and stamped three of the super adorable narwahls and on the third cup a couple of the shells and heart.

Art Impressions Challenge #225 - Sweet Treats

Hello!

It's the second seek of Art Impressions Challenge #225! AI also has a great new release! A new Easter set and a St. Patricks set!! My card today features the Shamrock set!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

I started by stamping the dancing lady and couple clovers. I used my Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolour Pencils. Instead of water, I used a Recollections Blender Pen. It gives a watercolor look, but its a lot easier with no drying time! (note that the pencils stain the pen and I always have a scrap piece for the times when I have too much color on the pen.)

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

After coloring the image I cut it out with a My Favorite Things Oval Stitched die. Then I stamped the sentiment Get Your Green On! just to the left of the image.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

I found some pattern paper that matched and added it to a white card base. I added a few stripes of other pattern papers along with a heart sticker.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

Then I added the oval with foam tape. I fussy cut two clovers and added them to the oval. Last I rounded each corner.

Well, it's the last day of the Coffee Loving Card Makers Summer Blog Hop!! I have one last card to share! It's another card featuring a digi stamp from hop sponsor LePetite Market, this one is from the Hipster set. I used the same summery pattern paper colors I used with my previous Le Petite Market card I shared earlier this week, you can check it out here. I actually printed and colored 3 images, but the third isn't coffee themed so I'll share it next week!

2017 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Hello!!

Today is the day for the 2017 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!! I can't wait to see all the great summer and coffee themed cards!! My card is a little tongue in cheek, fun card! Last hope I won a gift card and got some new Hero Arts stamps that I really wanted to use sooo....

To-da!!! Coffee and a shark!!! What could be better and more summery!?!?!? :D

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Hero Arts Simon Says Stamp
I started with a panel of watercolor paper, placing a Simon Says Stamp Waves stencil on top. Then with three different Distress Inks, I watercolored in the open spaces of the lower half of the stencil. I controlled the water I used as I didn't want too much bleeding going on.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Hero Arts Simon Says Stamp

While that was drying I found a gray scrap card stock and I stamped the shark head from Hero Arts Killer Messages set on it in gray ink. With my versamark marker, I colored the inside of the mouth and added a little shading. With a white opaque pen, I colored in the teeth!!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Hero Arts Simon Says Stamp

My coffee cup came from Waffle Flower's Bear & Bird stamp set, I colored it with one of the blue Distress Inks. Then I fussy cut it and the sharks head out. I placed both on my panel and when I liked their placement I added them with foam tape.  With Distress Markers, I added the fishing pole and fishing line.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Hero Arts Simon Says Stamp

My sentiment came from My Favorite Things Stay Cool stamp set, I thought it went really well with my shark and coffee card!! I cut a strip of the sentiment and added it across the bottom of the card with foam tape!
