Watercoloring with Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers

Hello!!

I'm sharing an Anniversary card today that does a little more traditional watercolor along with some smoosh watercolor!! And of course in a nice CAS way!!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion
I started by stamping the big flower from Crafter's Companion Perfect Partners - Wild Rose Briar in watermark ink and then heat embossing them with white embossing powder. Oh, and I did this on CC's watercolor card stock!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

To color the flowers I started with Aqua Marker Blossom to give each flower a wash of color. I kept it a bit light with lots of water. I didn't worry about staying in the lines because I knew I would be cutting them out in the end. When it was almost dry I went in with Rose Pink, a little more intense (less water) and then after a little drying time I used Begonia with very little water. I set them aside to dry totally while I worked on the background.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

I started with a wide strip of watercolor card stock and used the Black Aqua marker and squiggled it on a piece of acetate. With a water bottle, I spritzed a little water and them pressed it onto my watercolor card stock. I repeated this a few times allowing the previous press to dry a little. You don't want it too wet, but not dry either, but what is nice is there really is no wrong way to do this!! When I was happy with it I let it totally dry.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion
A little fussy cutting of the flowers and I adhered a black sequin to each flower center and they were ready to go!  Next, I used CC's Anniversary Edge'able die to cut out my black watercolor piece. I trimmed a bit bellow it so I would have room to stamp Happy in black in. I added it to a white card base with double sided adhesive and lastly added the three flowers. Some of the petals went over the edge so I just trimmed off that overhang.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Balloon Shaker Card

Hello!!

Today, I have an interactive shaker birthday card that's geared toward a little boy! I didn;t use actual balloon dies, but regular circle dies to create my balloons. And what little boy isn;t going to get a kick out of shaking this card?!?! :) I am entering this in Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion
I started by using a square die and cutting some boyish pattern paper with it. Then with Crafter's Companion Die'sire Essentials Circles I first cut a big circle, then a little one. With the same dies, I cut circles from an orange and yellow pattern paper and set those aside for later.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion
I placed my square with the circle holes on a 4.75 x 4.75 inch card base. With a pencil, I lightly traced around the two circles. Then I adhered the orange and yellow circles within those lines. Then I added foam tape around the two circles making sure there were no gaps. I also added some foam tape throughout the rest of the card base.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

From my stash of sequins, I added some matching sequins and stars to the center of the circles. I added a piece of clear acetate to my square top piece with the two circles cut out. For a sentiment, I stamped Happy Birthday on a piece of card stock and ripped one end. I used a stapler to attached the sentiment.
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion
After removing the release paper from the foam tape I carefully lined up the circle cut out with the orange and yellow circles and pressed it all down firmly.
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

To finish my balloons I hand cut some blunt triangles and adhered them below the circles. I also adhered some twine from the balloons to the side of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you have a great day!!

No Line Coloring with Colored Pencils & Exciting News!!

Hello!!

I'm stopping by with some exciting news!! It's been hard to keep this under wraps, but I'm happy and excited to be joining the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Design Team!!! Thank you, Amy!!  I'm going to have a great feature called Brew & Craft Your Stash that I hope you all will love!!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Darcie's Heart & Home
To help celebrate I have a Coffee card for you today! Lately, I have been seeing a lot of No Line Coloring with alcohol markers and I thought let's do that but instead of markers, I used colored pencils!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Darcie's Heart & Home

I used Darcie's Heart & Home Yeti to Party! For a light ink, I used Memento's Angel Pink on Crafter's Companion Kraft card stock. The pink is very light and it was a challenge in the small detail areas. In the past I've also used Antique Linen Distress Ink, it's really hard to find something that you can see to color, but not see at the end!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Darcie's Heart & Home

To color I used my CC's Colour Blend colored pencils: Pewter, Denim Blue, Royal Blue, Espresso, Timberwood, Smoke, Snow, Pink Blush, Black, Shamrock, Rock Pool, Jade, Mulberry. To help the white of the polar bear stand out I added blue sky around her.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Darcie's Heart & Home
I stamped the sentiment below the bear in brown ink and kept it really simple but just adding a few sequins!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Looking forward to seeing you all on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog!!

Art Impressions - Challenge #200 - Spring Fling

Hello!!

It's the second week of Art Impressions Spring Fling challenge!! AI has a new Holiday Sets, Easter Blessings & Nuts About You! You still have a week to play along, just use spring colors!!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
My card features the new Easter Blessings set. I started by stamping the bunny surrounded by flowers on white card stock. Then I used the following Spectrum Noir Markers to color it: CG2, CR5, CR6, CT4, DG2, DG3, EB1, EB2, FS6, GB5, GB8, HB2, HB3, LG4, LG5, LV3, TB3, TB4. When the coloring was done, I just fussy cut around the image leaving a little bit of a white border.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

I found some spring colored pattern paper from my collection, I'm pretty sure it's some old Lawn Fawn papers. I cut two patterns about an inch and half wide and then adhered them to a white card base.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
I added the colored image with foam tape. Then I stamped the Some Bunny Loves You sentiment and trimmed it down to a rectangle and adhered it to the card. Last I added a few colorful pearls!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Make sure you play along for your chance to win some AI goodies!

Distress Markers with Art Impressions

Hello!!

I'm on the Art Impressions blog today with two cards featuring the Feline set. I wanted to use up some pattern paper that I had on my desk!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
For both cards I stamped the cat image on watercolor cardstock. Then I used my Distress Markers to color them, I used: Black Soot, Pumice Stone, Ground Espresso.  Then I trimmed off the top part of the watercolor cardstock.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

For the first card I added the triangle pattern paper to a white card base and then added the cat with foam tape. Then I stamped the sentiment above the cat, luckily it worked out that the area was free of the gold triangle. They ink would have smeared on the gold foil!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

The other pattern paper is the same color but a different pattern with gold foil. I added the cat with foam tape a little bit higher on the card. I stamped the sentiment on vellum cardstock. To attached the vellum I used some polka dot washi tape, tucking it under the image a little.

Stippling with Distress Markers

Hello,

Today I am sharing a card I made for MFT Color Challenge #61. I was making some cards for fun and went looking for a challenge and I liked the colors in the MFT Color Challenge!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things
I started with the Cat-itude stamp set, inking up one of the cats, dish, and fish. I stamped them on watercolor cardstock. I used Distress Markers to give each of the images a light wash of color. Ripe Persimmon, Abanded Coral, Pumice Stone, Tumbled Glass.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things

When the watercolor was dry I used the fine point of the markers to stipple more color and shading in each of the images. Then I fussy cut out each image.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things

For a background, I placed MFT's Scattered Bars stencil across a white card base. Then using the same colors above I stippled inside some of the bars.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things
I placed a strip of gray cardstock across the card and then added the images with foam tape. Last I stamped the Thank You for Being There When I Kneaded You sentiment below the gray strip.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Hello

I'm on the Art Impressions blog today with a card featuring the new Mini Shakers! There are holiday shakers, along with non-holiday Birthday shakers!! My card today features the Rock & Roll Mini Shaker.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle and then stamped the skating lady. I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color her skin, hair, and skates, I used: BG2, BG4, EB3, EB5, FS4, FS6, FS9, OR1.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

Then I stamped the big image and the smaller image that will be the shaker on a few different pattern papers. I fussy cut them out and added them to the images.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

With a brown marker, I gave her some ground to skate on and then stamped the Rock & Roll sentiment in the top left corner and the It's Your Birthday in the bottom left the corner. I added some pattern paper to a white card base and then added the stamped panel.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

Then I used a mini action wobble on the smaller image and added that to the card. Last I found some yellow and black enamel dots to the card.

What's New

Hello!

I'm back today with another card I made for fun! I'm playing along with Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge - What's New! The challenge is to use new products, try out a new technique or make a card for a new baby or new home etc. I went with new products as a found a few in my SSS stash that I hadn't yet inked up!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Simon Says Stamp
I started with the Falling Backgrounds and used the hearts to create the background on a white card base. To get a nice solid ink job and line up everything I used my MISTI.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Simon Says Stamp

Next, I pulled out Soaring For You (now retired I think as it wasn't on their website) and stamped the kites in several ink colors, including the kites tails. Then I fussy cut them out.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Simon Says Stamp

I played with the placement until I got it the way I like and then added the kits with foam tape and adhered the tails down.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Simon Says Stamp
For the sentiment I used my MISTI again, inking it a couple times to make it nice and red! I thought about adding sequins or enamel dots, but in the end, I like it better without!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Ellen Hutson Mix It Up Challenge

Hello!

I've been really busy getting HSN & CHA projects done, but when they were done I played a little just for fun. I also recently won MISTI and wow!! So far I've been used it for three cards and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised that I like it so much!! I think I had myself convinced I didn't need it so I wouldn't spend the money on it!! LOL!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Essentials by Ellen & Avery Elle

But anyway I'm playing along with Ellen Hutson Mix It Up Challenge - the challenge to use Essentials by Ellen and Avery Elle stamps! I used Stay Salty and Happy Camper!

I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle from white cardstock. I used the MISTI to place the stamps were I wanted them, it was especially helpful with the solid water stamp from Avery Elle's Happy Camper! I was able to stamp it several times to get the coverage I wanted!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Essentials by Ellen & Avery Elle

Next, I stamped the sailboat and clouds from Essentials by Ellen Stay Salty stamp set. Then I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color both: DR5, EB5, EB6, IG2, IG4. I fussy cut them all out with a small white border.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Essentials by Ellen & Avery Elle

I used Distress Inks Faded Jean and inked the top portion of the panel. To darken the sky I added a little Black Soot.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Essentials by Ellen & Avery Elle
To make sure I added the sentiment in the right place, I used the MIST. It also helped to stamp the sentiment twice to make sure the sentiment was nice and dark. I added the boat and clouds to the panel with foam tape. Last, I added the panel to a white card base and trimmed off the cloud overhang.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Distress Marker Coloring with Art Impressions

Hello!!

I'm on the Art Impressions blog today with a card we can all relate too!! We all have bad days, and this would be a perfect card to send someone as a little humorous pick me up!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
I started by stamping the Flamingo on some watercolor card stock. Then I used my Distress Markers and a little water to color it up! I used: Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade, Spun Sugar, Evergreen Bough.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

Next, I trimmed the image to fit my card base and cut off the top portion by first using my paper trimmer to cut straight to the image, from both sides. Then I fussy cut around the image. With a black marker, I colored the edge of the image that I cut out.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

I stamped the funny sentiment to the left of the image and then added it to some pattern paper with foam tape. Then the whole panel was adhered to a white card base. I think that the image and sentiment carries the card nicely and it didn;t need any enamel dots or sequins!

Spectrum Noir - Colorista on HSN

Hello!

I'm stopping by with another HSN peek! Spectrum Noir's Colorista is back with some new products along with the Colorista markers.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

First I colored two sheets with my Colorista markers. My plan was to place these into embroidery hoops, so I didn't color the whole sheet but instead colored a circular area of each sheet. Then I had to go to Joann's to get some hoops!! ;)  Of course, I brought along my sheets so I could make sure the hoops I got were not too big!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

Now I have never used paper with hoops so it was touch and go for away! But I can say, don't use water to soften the paper!!! It didn't work so I had to use that paper with my smaller hoop and color a little bit more of the other paper so it would fit in the larger hoop!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

But I found that if I placed the inside hoop on my paper and scored around the outer side with a bone folder I was able to bend the paper over the inside hoop. To help keep the paper in place I added double sided adhesive along that the outer hoop and then pressed the paper to the adhesive. I found that I could pull the paper too much and short the other side, so I started pressing the paper in two spots opposite of each other and then worked my way around from both spots.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion

When it was all pressed down I placed the outer hoop over the inner hoop and tighten the screw. I did it all again with the smaller hoop. Now they are ready to hang!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Make sure you tune in tomorrow! I'll be back tomorrow with another HSN product project!
