Sunday's Bits & Pieces #17

Hi there,

Today i have a card for my weekly Bits & Pieces. This card was made from all paper scraps. I chose some green paper for the grass and some for the trees. I also had a wood grain scrap that i used for the tree trucks. The grass and trees were all die cut.

For the sky i used some blue Smooch Spritz. I already cut my cardbase, so when i spritz it, some got on the inside. This is 2nd time i have used the spritz, but next time I'll cut a panel to spritz first.

I stamped the sentiment on one of the tree's. I added white and black dash lines to 2 of the grass layers. 2 tree's have black dash lines, with the 3rd getting white dash lines.

I adhered the grasses to the card front, the bottom one i adhered with pop up dots. Last i added the trees, one with pop up dots.

Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Hello,
Today is Papertrey Ink’s Blog Hop and this month they have another inspiration photo:

Blog hop inspiration

I drew my inspiration from the patterns and not the colors. Pink & blue are my least favorite colors, so I went instead with my favorite colors orange, green & purple.

I used several stamps to make the different patterns similar to the photo. I started with some cardstock strips and stamped one with a poke-a-dot pattern, one with a damask pattern, one with a zigzag (instead of the stripe in the photo, didn’t have a stripe stamp but I will to remedy this! lol ) and another in a flowery pattern.

Once these were stamped I made my card from cardstock. Then I trimmed each strip so I could get each on my card. After I liked the placement and order, I stamped the sentiment in between two of the strips and wrapped some cream twine around the card. Last I inked the edges of each strip and adhered them to the card front.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Friday Sketch & Sunday's Bits & Pieces #16

Hello,

Today i have a super quick card for CAS-ual Friday's challenge and this weeks Bits & Pieces. The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays' is a this sketch:

I cut square shapes from some some green paper scraps. I also had some stripes that have a music background. I thought it made the card a little more interesting then just 2 shapes on the card.

I stamped the sentiment 'a big congrats 2 you' in black ink and placed the solid green shape on pop up dots. The other shape and the stripes i adhered flush the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Friday's & Sunday's Bits & Pieces 15

Hello!

Today i have a quick card for CAS-ual Friday's weekly challenge. I also used paper scraps from my scrap bin, i all i had to do was stamp!

The challenge this week at CAS-ual Friday's is to choose 2 opposite colors on this color wheel:

Of course i went with orange (my favorite color). I'm very picky about my orange, can;t be too yellow or too red. I also hate how a lot of orange comes with blue or pink...i don;t want blue or pink i just want orange!!! But for this challenge had to use blue, so i found some scraps from my favorite pattern paper and this is what happened:

The background paper has a text and poke-a-dot background. I lightly roughed and inked the edges. Then i added some glitter glue on each dot all the way around the panel (the last pic below, shows this the best).

On the blue scallop (it was already cut) i stamped a text background. And on the light blue piece i stamped the birdcage and bird. Last i stamped the word Thanks from the same Hampton Art set.

Last i adhered the birdcage piece flush to the background and then added the scallop, along with a pattern paper scrap on pop up dots.

Thanks for stopping by, i'm off to finish a research paper! (ugh!)

CAS-ual Friday's - Let the Hunt Begin

Hello,

Today i have a quick card to share for CAS-ual Friday's weekly challenge. The challenge is to make a card featuring something you would find in an Easter basket.... well i did one step better, i used something from my actual Easter basket!!  I'm in Michigan to see my mom and she gets us (me and my brother) a little Easter basket (or bucket for this year:)  ). We get a little something each year even though we have been adults for many years now!! lol

For my card i used the pink plastic grass from my Easter bucket. I stamped and die cut a jar and used a tiny amount of blue water color to color the jar (though you can;t really tell in the photo's, it IS there !! :) ) Then i used some double sided tape and adhered some of the plastic grass to jar. Then i just rimed it up till i liked the length.

Next i hand cut some eggs from pattern paper. I inked the edges and added a few light dots. I adhered the eggs to the jar with pop up dots. If i were at home i would have used twine but my mom dosen;t have any, so i found this crinkly paper that can be used in baskets and such.

I stamped and cut out the label that has the sentiment Just for You. I punched a hole and threaded it through the crinkly paper, which i 'tied' around the top of the jar. Last i adhered the jar to the cardbase with pop up dots.

Thanks for stopping by!! I will be home latter this week and will have more cards to share!

Just Sending a Note

Hello!

I have a quick card to share. I spent most of my evening packing a suitcase and my car for a trip home to MI for Easter. But nature had something else in mind! I got a few things in the car, when it started raining and its been coming down for an hour or so now. So i finished packing the suitcase and misc items and will get them in the car tomorrow morning!

Since i couldn't finish loading the car, i made a quick card instead! :)

I stamped a text background on kraft cardstock. Then i stamped the flower on a couple pattern papers and cut each out. I adhered the flowers with pop up dots and added purple glitter glue to each flower center.

I stamped the sentiment just sending a. Last i added the word Note with stickers on pop up dots.

I hope everyone has a great Easter!!

Dana Warren (me!!!)

But 1st i went ahead and got started! LOL! I did up a quick card this week.. super easy! The flower and sentiment are apart of Hampton Art's Ditto line.

I die cut the note shape from cardstock and stamped and embossed the flowers. I used watercolor crayons to color. (embossing makes it super easy to stay in the lines)

I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece and ripped the top part and adhered it to the note. Then i tied a little twine and the top and adhere it to the cardbase! Thats it!!

Make sure to check out Hampton Art Blog in the near future for all the Design Team's projects!

CAS-ual Friday & Bits and Pieces #14

Hello!!

I have a card for this week CAS-ual Friday Challenge and a project for my Sunday's Bits & Pieces. For my CAS card i did use a scrap piece of cardstock, so i could have used that for Bits & Pieces, but using just a scrap is pretty easy! So i dug deeper and found a couple things to use, but i'll go into details a little further down.

First is my card for CAS-ual Friday's weekly challenge. The challenge was to be inspired by a song in some way. It took me a little while, but i was doing errands yesterday and the radio had Kelly Clarkson's Stronger playing and then it clicked! I used Paper Smooches Hope set.

I stamped the boxing gloves on textured pink cardstock and cut them out. Then i threaded some black string in the same place the gloves ties are stamped. I made sure i ended with both tales on the wrong side. I gathered the loose tales and tied  a small knot.

I adhered the gloves to the card with pop up dots and then added a touch of glue under the knot and trimmed the excess. Next i stamped the sentiment 'I am awed by your.' I masked off the 'courage' part of the stamp. Instead of courage i wanted strength, so i spelled it out with small alpha stickers.

For my next project i found in my scrap drawer a small quilled strawberry and a die cut & stamped strawberry. I had already planned on incorporating come clear transparencies because i have a lot of these left over from stamp packaging and i want to use some of it up!

So to start with i stamped a grid background with versamark and embossed it with clear kaleidoscope powder. Then i die cut 6 square shapes.

On the smooth side i adhered glitter alphabet stickers to each square. On the 6th square i adhered the die cut strawberry with pop up dots and glued on the quilled strawberry. I punch 2 tiny wholes on each square and threaded twine through each hole.

Below i took a picture of the banner in a black tray, this shows the embossed grid better!

Have a great Sunday!
