CAS-ual Firday's Round and Round

Hiya!

I have a card for this week’s CAS-ual Friday's Challenge, Round and Round. You have to use 2 circles on your card, i used 2 ovals.... ovals are technically circles.. right?!?! hehe! Anyway when i saw the challenge i thought of the Happy Hydrangea set and knew it had an oval stamp and matching die and though i could come up with something!

First i made my card base, then i tested my idea on scrap paper and when i had it down, i did it again on my cardbase. I die cut the oval from thin paper twice to use as masks. I stamped the front oval first then using a die cut oval masked it and stamped the flower image.

Next using masking i stamp the next oval, so it would be behind the first. Then using both die cuts i masked both ovals and stamped the individual flowers in the second oval.

Then i stamped the sentiment and last added a twine bow and tiny amounts of glitter glue to the hydrangea.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!! Happy 4th!!

CAS-ual Friday's and Moxie Fab

Hey there!!
Long time no see!! Well... not really that long, but it does feel like it!! My brother and I made the 10 hour trip from TN to MI with no problems, but after a week of intense packing, trailer loading, high emotions and not enough sleep i was exhausted!!! But it all eventually got done and i've had a few days to sleep in!! :)
After loading up the storage unit, unloading some of my craft stuff was next on my list! So the past couple of days I have been getting back into crafting and making cards.... and looking for a job of course!! :)

In fact i had some pics of my new very small craft space to share, but somehow they disappeared between the camera and the computer!! :) Luckily I have to keep my area clean so I’ll have to take some more today.

One of the cards I made is for this week's CAS-ual Friday's challenge. It's nice to get back to the challenges after having to forgo them the past couple of weeks. The challenge this week is to use pink on your card. I am also submitting this for Moxie Fab World Hello Challenge, as i was picking out the just the right butterfly i saw the hello, i though it would be a nice short sentiment for the card and perfect for the Moxie Fab challenge.

I got my inspiration for my card from a roll of paper towel!! Yes, seriously paper towel!!! I went through about 3 rolls cleaning my just emptied apartment and one roll had these green lines (for grass) and a little bee, and as i was cleaning i was thinking, hmmm this would make a cute card!

To to make this idea fit my inspiration i used a poke-a-dot butterfly stamp. Instead of using ink i used a Smooch Spritz, it gave the butterfly a nice watercolor/vintagey look. It turned out really well, so i will definitely have to try this again!!

For the grass i trimmed some green pattern and solid paper and adhered it along my cardbase. I cut out the butterfly and stamped hello in brown ink and then adhered it to the card. Last i rounded the bottom corners.

A nice card to use up some scraps!! Thanks for stopping by!! Hopefully my camera will cooperate and I’ll have some pics of my crafting space tomorrow!!

Orange & Blue Baby

Hi there,

I've been MIA lately, because i have been packing. I'm moving next week so i've been packing like a fiend!! I will not be posting as often in the next couple of weeks, but once i get unpacked and settled i'll be back to posting regularly. :)

Since i will not be making anything new in the next couple weeks i'm sharing a card i made for a friend a couple of weeks ago. Her sister is having a baby in a few months and she was going the baby shower and needed a card. The card had to be gender neutral since her sister decided to be surprised, and her sister was having a orange and navy themed baby shower. So here is what i came up with:

I'll back next week briefly with another card i made a few months ago!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Make It Monday #69

Hi there!

I've been making some Father's Day lately and saw that this weeks Make It Monday involved sketch's, i liked a couple of them and though that they would make great Father Day cards.

I used this sketch for my inspiration:
Sketch-6

This card is quick and easy! I stamped the ties along the bottom in different inks. Then i added a thin strip of orange cardstock.

And last stamped the sentiment Happy Father's Day and Dad in brown ink. Easy, huh!?!  Another Father's Day card in my stash!

Oh and if you haven't already take a peek at PaperCrafts Gallery Idol 2012 and i'd love your vote!!

Thanks!!

CAS-ual Friday's Put A Bling On It

Hey there!!

I made today's card for a friend who saw a similar card i made months ago. This one just like it for a friends wedding with purple and flowers. The card also includes a little bit of bling so it fits great with this weeks CAS-ual Friday's Challenge: Bling!

I started with the sentiment, which is from Papertrey Ink free 4th Anniversary Tags. After printing out the sentiment i cut it out with a circle die and added little glitter dots around the sentiment.

Next i stamped the frame in black ink on the cardbase and again on scrap cardstock. With the scrap piece i cut out the inner frame and used it to mask the cardbase. I stamped a solid flower in purple ink multiple times inside the frame.

As the inked dried i found some purple ribbon that matched (the ribbon looks a little bit bluer in the pic then it really is!) I looped the ribbon on each side of the sentiment, adhered it to the cardbase and notched the edges. Last i added the sentiment circle with pop up dots.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Paper Crafts 2012 Gallery Idol

Hello!!

I'm so exited to be in Paper Crafts 2012 Gallery Idol, Top 20! All the ladies are super talented and i am honored to be included!  Today kicks off the voting for Round 2, only the top 15 are chosen, so make sure you vote for your favorite (me, right!?! hehe) :D  Click here to vote!

The theme this round is You Color My World. First here is my card, then i'll get into the details!

For my card i really wanted to try making fabric flowers. I've seen them everywhere, even watch A How To months ago, but never got around to actually making one. So... since color was the theme and i don;t have much fabric let alone all the colors of the rainbow, i decided to dye some fabric.

I started with a fine small count white linen and cut lots of strips, about an inch or so wide. For my dye's i used the ink refillers from Papertrey Ink. For my 1st attempt i used too much water and my strips came up to light for my liking. So i started again and this time only used about a tablespoon of water (i just eyeballed it).

I used small disposable plastic cups and a wooden dowel to stir and move around the fabric strips. For the darker colors (purple and blue) i ended up adding a little bit of water after they the strips where in

Next i laid them out to dry on some parchment paper. Luckily i had some plastic bin lids that made great drying racks!

Now i'm all about experimenting before i start on the good stuff, so i cut a couple extra strips and tried my hand at making the flower, because if it didn;t work out, i was going to have to come up with another plan for my colored strips!!

But it all worked out wonderfully (or at least i think so! lol). I die cut some small circles and used glossy accents to adhere the fabric to each circle. I started in the middle, putting down glue, twisting and laying, more glue... you get the idea!! :D

Once all the flower's were made i cut some leaves and arrange the flowers and leaves to my liking. Before i glued them down i added a sentiment in the bottom right in brown ink. Last i added rhinestone to each flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will take a look all the Gallery Idols cards and vote for your favorite!!

Thanks!!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #20

Hi!!

I have a card that i only used bits and pieces from my scrap drawer. But first i want to thank everyone for the kind and encouraging comments in making it to Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Top 20. I am honored to be among a great group of very talented ladies!! Check back tomorrow for my Round 2 card.

This card is super easy and fast to make! Of course it helps that all the pieces were already made! I dug around my scrap drawer and found a flower that i had die cut from cork. I also found a pink rosette and a die cut shape.

I stamped the sentiment make a wish in brown ink on the die cut shape and adhered it to the a kraft cardbase. Then i adhered the cork flower to the rosette. I added a pink button to the flower center and cut some leaves from green scrap paper.

Last i adhered the leaves and then the flower to the cardbase.

Thanks for stopping by!
