It's a Clean & Simple Kind of Day

Hello,

Today i have a card for Clean & Simple Online Card Class, CAS-ual Friday's and entering this into Hero Arts Love Challenge. The challenge this week at Cas-ual Friday's is to use chipboard and at Hero Arts the theme is all about love.

So for my card i used the sketch from the Online Card Class and rather then having the outer square have a pattern, i used it on the interior squar. I used Hero Arts Lauderdale Tree background stamp for the pattern.

I only used 2 elements at the bottom, in this case birdrs, because i only had 2 ... and i thought it fit better with the sentiment anyway. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right corner.

The birds are chipboard and i covered one with some pink pattern paper and the other i stamped and white embossed a dot and dash background. Then i mixed a little liquid pearls with water and painted the bird. Last i adhered the birds just above the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #2

Hello,

Welcome to Sunday's Bits & Pieces #2, this is part of a new years resolutionish post i am doing every Sunday, featuring cards made with paper scraps and leftover embellishments as the main focus. Today's card features a lot of leftover embellishments. I started with the label shape already die cut from kraft and stamped with a black border. It was edged with orange ink, but i kind of covered it up edging the label with dye distressing ink.

Next i found the butterfly i had already stamped and embossed in black ink and colored with pearlized pigments. I also found a orange flower that i liked under the butterfly. The flower was originally a bright orange, so to turned it up side down and rubbed on PTI Canyon Clay ink pad.

Then i found a good size piece of pattern paper that had a nice distress text. To spice it up a bit i found solid circle stamp with dash marks that i thought went well with the border and dots on the label. I stamped the circle in a dot formation over the patten paper. Last i ink the edge with distress ink.

I wanted to use as much paper as possible so i went with a 5 x7 card and added a strip of black from my scrap bin. I die cut the edge and adhered it just under the my custom poka-dot paper. Next i tied thick black twine were the pattern paper meets the black cardstock. I adhered this panel to my cardbase.

Just Because is the sentiment i choose for the label and stamped it in black ink, then adhered the label to the cardfront with pop up dots. Last i adhered the flower and butterfly to the top right corner of the label.

Thanks for stopping by and i hope this inspires you to use up those paper scraps and extra embellishments!

CAS-ual Friday's and Bits & Pieces

Hello and Happy New Year!!!

I hope everybody had a happy and safe New Year! Today i have a card for CAS-ual Friday/Market Street's Block Party Challenge. The challenge is to use Kraft and Twine along with extra incentive to play at Market Street's Block Party by using one of their stamps or a free digital stamp.

I also have a New Years Resolution here on my blog, and that is to use the bits and pieces in my scrap files and drawer. As you can see in the 2 photos below i have lots of paper scraps. Behind my scraps are stickers, rubons and chipboard embellishments shorted by theme, which i have had for way too long!! Next to this i have a plastic mulit-drawer cart with one drawer that is filled with stamped pieces, leftover die cuts, and embellishments that didn;t make it on cards.

So every Sunday in 2012 i am going to post at least 1 card using my leftover embellishments and scraps as the main focus of my card(s). I am calling this Sunday's Bits & Pieces, hopefully by the end of the year i will had made a good dent!

So to kick off the 1st Sunday's Bits & Pieces i made a card for CAS-ual Fridays challenge. First i used a used a piece of scrap Kraft and trimmed it to fit my card front. With a ruler i measured about 1/2 inch all the way around and pierced wholes all the way around the panel. I sewed pink twine like yarn around the panel then tied it in a little bow and attached a tiny tag. I stamped Love is Brewing in pink on the tag.

The coffee cup is Market Street's free digi stamp. I sized it on my computer printing it out on copy paper to find the right size for my card. Then i used 3 paper scraps, a text, pink paisley and pink card stock. These scraps where about the size of a index card. I taped each scrap to a piece of copy paper and ran it through my printer... to my surprise it actually printed and didn;t jam the printer!

After printing the cup 3 times i cut out the cup from the text paper. Then cut the circle out of the paisley paper and just the heart from the pink card stock. Next i layered the heart and circle on the text cup with pop ups and added it to the panel with pop up dots. Last i used a pencil to copy the placement of the dots coming out of the cup, then used a black pen when i was happy with the dot placement.

Have a wonderful day and i hope you will stop by next Sunday for another card made with scraps and leftover embellishments!

Papertrey Ink - December Blog Hop

Hello,

I hope everyone had a great Holiday, i sure did!! My big surprise was a Teresa Collins Stampmaker!! I can;t wait to get home and start making my my own stamps!!!

The challenge this month for Papertrey Inks blog hop is to use leftovers, not the food kind but the wrapping, bows, ribbon etc!! Since i am traveling out of state using leftover from Christmas wasn't an option, but i happened to bring home a holiday Kleenex box from work last week that i wanted to do something with in the future. This box is perfect for the challenge. The pattern on the box is very pretty and though you can;t really tell in the pictures below, if you tilt the card this way and that it has a pretty hologram dots that sparkle.

So to use the box, i die cut one side with a spellbinders label and adhered it to a square card. Next i die cut a smaller label and stamped a pitcher and flowers. For the pitcher i used aqua mist, this is a perfect match to the color of the Kleenex's box. I used true black to stamp the small Happy Anniversary sentiment on the small label.

Across the card i used twill that i dyed with the aqua mist ink. I created a loop at one end and adhered it across the card folding it around the back at the other end. Then i adhered the small label over the twill ribbon with pop up dots. Last i rounded the corners of my card.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the holiday!!

CAS-ual Friday - Signed, Sealed & Delivered

Hi,

This weeks challenge at CAS-ual Friday's to create a CAS card with a coordinating envelope.

I have a friends birthday this coming week so i decided to make a Tag birthday card, in her favorite color, purple! :)

First i used PTI's button card die. This fits in PTI's seed packet envelope perfectly. A quick whole punch at the top and i added ribbon to make the tag.

Next i did a bit of masking and stamped a cute little banner. I stamped the tie first in black ink. Then i masked and stamped each flag a different color purple. To add a little bling i used purple pearl like embellishments to each flag.

Across the bottom i stamped a line in black ink and added my happy birthday sentiment. For the envelope i stamped the black banner ties and the flags in purple ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello,
Sorry it’s been so long since my last post, after Thanksgiving my card making mojo was missing and then I got a cold! But regardless i finally got my Christmas cards done (and mailed yesterday!!), ornaments and the last of my Christmas shopping done. All that is left to do is wrap!

I also got some happy email from PaperCrafts Magazine late last week and there’s nothing like good card making news to inspire you to make more! In fact I am a bit behind in posting my published cards (yay!), but here is the very 1st one. (sorry the photo is not the greatest, this was before my new spiffy light tent!)

You can see it in Holiday Cards & More Vol. 6, and if you don;t have a copy you can it at PaperCrafts. As soon as I saw this stamp I thought Got Presents? and the card was born!

I'll be back later this weekend with some more cards as i get back to my usual card making challenges. I also have a new weekly post starting with the new year as a part of my card making New Years Resolution. So stay tuned!!

Have a great day!!
Dana
