CAS-ual Friday's Mostly Monochromatic

Hello,

Today i have a card for CAS-ual Friday's challenge. The challenge is to use a monochromatic (3 colors) plus 1 color (brown). To add to my Christmas stash i decided to make a Christmas card.

I was actually was going to use different stamps, squares actually, but when i tried to add them to my card with the ribbon and bow, my card just wasn't big enough. So instead i used the string of lights. I stamped the cord in brown ink. Then for the lights i used a dark and a lighter greenish/blue ink. To get the 3rd (lightest color) i stamped it off once before stamping my card.

I tied a brown and silver bow across the top. I stamped the sentiment sending holiday joy in brown also. Last i added some liquid pearl to the middle of each light.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Papertrey Ink's September Blog Hop

Hello,

Welcome to Papertrey Ink's September Blog Hop! This month there is another photo for inspiration:
Sept-Blog-Hop-Inspiration

I really like the lines in this picture. To me it was kind of retro, especially with the gold doors. So used the these lines as my inspiration.

For my card i used double sided tape and my craft mat to lay down the the lines. Then i used red glitter on the outer rectangle and green on the inner rectangle.

Next i used the Christmas Label Stamp set and die. I used the die with pattern paper and stamped the matching label in a red ink. I stamped Holly Jolly in green with fun below it in black ink.

To spruce up the label i added stickles glitter around the oval the label makes with clear glitter and with green make to dots at each end. Last i adhered it to the card with pop up dots!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Make It Monday # 31 - Make a Background

Hello,

Today i have a card i made for PTI's Make It Monday. This is a birthday card for a coworker who's birthday is this week. The MIM challenge is to use a regular stamp as a background. I used 2 stamp's from the same set.

I started with a purple pattern paper and stamped the background with purple ink. Then i punched a border along the bottom edge. Next i punched some holes at the top left corner and along the right side. I also distressed the edges with ink.

Next i cut a die shape from card stock and stamped a border in the shape. In a very light purple i stamped Happy Birthday. Next i used PTI's new Bloom Builders #3. I added a white button to the middle and adhered it to the top corner of the die cut. Then i added a few rhinestone and last adhered this to the card with pop up dots.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Make It Monday - Thank You's

Hello,

Whew what a week!! Classes started this week, plus i had to finish a wedding gift, go to the wedding and at work we went paperless this week. I am so glad i get a day off tomorrow!

Today i have 2 cards, both thank you cards. The 1st one is for PTI's Make it Monday. The second is for a coworker who donated tickets for a silent action we have been having at work to raise money for breast cancer. The 1st card is for the coworkers mother who also donated tickets.

I used the marigold from Year of Flowers Collection, stamping them in brown ink on rustic cream cardstock. I colored them colored pencils and distressed the edges. Then i matted this on dark orange paper and sewed around the edge with brown thread. I wrapped twine around this and adhered it with a button. I stamped thanks three times on a tiny tag.

Next i adhered the rectangle to a autumn pattern paper with pop up dots. Then i adhere this to my card base.

For my next card i cut the guitar out of red, black, blue, green and orange cardstock. I used versamark and iridescent embossing powder on the black guitar. Then i stamped a modern red rectangle and stamped thanks inside. Next i used a couple different stamps to make the background, using white ink on black cardstock. I added a strip of pattern paper with sheet music.

I adhered the guitars over the sheet music with pop up dots and add the sentiment to the bottom right.

Have a great holiday!!

Make It Monday & a Card

Hi,

Today i have two cards, one is this weeks Make it Monday and the other i made for this months PTI blog hop, but ..... With work and classes starting tomorrow (Yikes!) i forgot to get the post ready. I already had plans Thursday night and couldn;t get it up in time, so i've added the card below today's MIM. So today's post is a little long! :)

The MIM challenge this week is to color free style. I experimented with a few different stamps and markers. I ended up with some prismacolor markers and a spider web stamp from PTI Halloween Tags.  I used orange, green and purple to color the spider web.

I used a little spider from another stamp in the set, and cut him out. I added thin black ribbon to the circle for the spider to 'hang' from. The the top of the circle i added  a tiny bow. I adhered the spider on a pop up dot at the end of the ribbon.

I made the cardbase from black cardstock and added a white faux stitching around the front. Next i adhered the circle on pop up dots. I did this 6 times to make a card set, but forgot a card when i took the pics! :)

My next card i intended for the August PTI blog hop. I really liked the dark pink in the photo. I used some pink cardstock and stamped the strawberry in versamark ink and embossed them. Next i added Stickles to each strawberry. Above this i stamped a twinkle background in green on white cardstock.

I added a strip of green ribbon across the card and stamped 'are so sweet' in black ink. I wanted to do something different then the traditional bow. From a length i of ribbon i made 3 loops. I used a stapler to secure. Then i made another 3 loops with another piece of ribbon.  I used the stapler to secure both sides together and used a small piece of ribbon to wrap around the middle. Then i added a big matching button to the middle and topped it off with a chipboard U.

Have a great day!!

CAS-ual Fridays - Embossing

Hi,

Today i have a card for CAS-ual Friday's Challenge. This weeks challenge is embossing ... any kind of embossing. I went with dry embossing. I used an wood grain embossing folder on brown card stock. Then i used brown ink to add a little distressing to the embossing.

I stamped some cute little acorns in brown. For the acorn cap i used a bronze ink, then added brown on top. These little acorns are so cute!!. I layered the top acorn with a pop up dot and added a brown rhinestone.

I then used a flag to for the sentiment: nut'n better then a friend like you. Behind the acorn and sentiment i added a brown sparkly ribbon to run horizontally across the card. I then layered this embossed rectangle with pop up dots on a cardbase.

Thanks for stopping by!!

PTI's Make it Monday - Glitter Die Border

Hello,

Today i have a card i made for PTI's Make it Monday. The technique is to make a glitter border with a die. The die i used was one of PTI's tags. I lightly traced around the die and did the glitter border in a white glitter.

I die cut the tag and stamped the snowflake squares. I used 2 different inks, because i didn;t have the green/blue color that matches the pattern paper. Then i stamped the sentiment from the same set in a dark grey.

For the top of the tag i used twine to make a 'loop bow'. I folded the twine back and forth, kind of like a zig zag, but holding one end as i coiled the twine. Then holding one end of the loops tight i flattened the other ends in the middle to see if i had enough loops to get a flower shape. When i was happy with it, i used the extra twine to wrap around the end that i was holding. I threaded this through the hole the tag has. To help flatten the flower i added a snowflake brad through the middle of the flower. The brad was too blue, so i inked some green over it to get the green/blue color.

Last i wrapped some twine along one side and adhered the tag on pop up dots. Flower does hid the glitter border a bit at that side, but you can still see it along the top and bottom of the tag.

Thanks for stopping by!
