Papertrey Ink - November Blog Hop
Hello,
I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, mine sure was!! Lots of yummy turkey and pumpkin pie!! Because i traveled out of state to my Mom's i made the project and did the photos before leaving. This months inspiration is the lovely photo --->
You could go a lot of different ways with this photo. My 1st thought was the Love Lives Here: Holiday. But as i was looking for it i found Bells & Boughs set. The branch from this set is bigger and my 1st thought was to make a big card.... that soon changed!
As i started i wanted to try the stamped watercolor look. So i started with some watercolor paper and PTI's Spring Moss and Ranger's Peeled Paint. I inked up the big branch with spring moss and spritz it once with pearlized water, then stamped. I did this roughly in a circle then extended it out horizontally.
Next i used the darker Peeled Paint. Also i stamped the branches a few times with out re inking. My intention was to make a card, but when i started added all the embellishments i didn;t want to squash it to make it fit on a card. So i decided to make a sign. I had picked up a metal sign on clearance at Hobby Lobby who knows how long ago, i knew it would come in handy one day! :)
So before i started stamping on the nice (and expensive) watercolor paper i tried it out on a some inexpensive watercolor paper. This is what i used when i stamped the red circle sentiment, so some of my stamped experiment shows through the circle. I then cut out the circle, free style! :) Then i used a distress tool on the edge. I layered this over twine loops, placing it at the center of my branch 'circle'
I found some really cool rust hearts and stars on wire at Hobby Lobby. It was in the mini tree decoration isle, and if i get back there soon, I'm getting more! I think these can be used for love or even birthday cards!! For this project i used the hearts. There is lots of wire btw each heart, so i wrapped that wire around a pencil, then flattened it. I did this for each section btw the hearts.
Next i found a branch with red berries and kind of threaded it through the rust hearts & wire. Next i added a little pine cone btw the circle and wire along with a couple of berries and red paper flowers. The flowers were originally light pink. But i used PTI Pure Poppy ink to die the flowers. In the pics they look a lot darker then they really are, a nice dark red (but not too dark!)
I trimmed the water colored paper and inked the edges. To cover the metal sign i used some pattern kraft paper and adhered it to the metal, then added the water color paper. Then i stamped Merry Christmas in red and last i hot glued all the embellishments.
Hope every one has a great Thanksgiving holiday.
Dana
