Thinking of You

Hello!

I hope everyone had a great week! Finally it's the weekend!! Yay!! I hope to do some crafting and tons of studying this weekend!!!  Today's card features a stencil and a new way to use it!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Crafter's Companion
I used Crafter's Companion Sheena Douglass's Wild Flower stencil and placed it on a panel of white water color paper. I used some washit tape to hold down the stencil, but i just placed it on the side (also include a little bit of the card stock if you can), this way i can open the stencil like a book.

Next i pulled out my Spectrum Aqua Markers, Orchid, Wildflower and Moss. For this card i used the fine tip of the marker, just another way to stretch your supplies!! With the stencil over the card stock i used the fine tip to trace a few parts of the stencil. You don;t want the ink to dry, so only do a few areas at a time. Next take a wet paint brush and lift the stencil and add water to the inside of the area you trace. With the brush pull the ink around the edges to the inside. If i used a little bit too much water i would wait for it to dry just a bit before closing the stencil to do the next little bit.

This particular stencil dosen;t have a ton of open areas, but for the smaller stems and such, i just got lines and dots in some areas. I still added some water to those areas to soften the lines.

Since the card is all about the water coloring i decided to keep the rest of the card simple. I wrapped some black twine a few times around the panel. Some twine can be a bit hairy, and if you don;t like that just trim some (or a lot) of those stray little hairs that twine can have! This is what i did with this card! Next i stamped the Thinking of You sentiment from CC's Stamp It Australia Dreamy Daisies stamp set. Last i a just adhered the panel to a white card base!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Just Part of the Decor

Hello!!

I'm on the Art Impressions blog today and i'm sharing a card featuring the Crazy Cat Lady clear stamp set, available at Michael's! I love cats so this is one of my favorite sets!!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
I decided to do a little paper piecing, i picked out some paper from a 6 x 6 Echo Park Paper pad, This & That: Grateful. I pieced the chair she is sitting in, her robe and PJ's. I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color her skin, hair and cats. Then i fussy cut her out.

I adhered some pretty pink flower pattern paper on my card base and added a strip of black card stock down the middle. At the top i stamped the sentiment Cat Hair Is Just Part of the Decor in My House in white ink! Hehe! I love that sentiment.

Next i adhered the stamped image with foam tape and along the bottom i added dash lines with white pens.

If you are a cat lover, this set is for you!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Bright Flowers

Hello!

I'm back with another card today, playing along with Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenges. This card is for the Grab Bag Challenge, you have five minutes to grab what you are going to use on your card, and you have to use what you grab! Well it didn;t take me 5 minutes. But here is a picture of what i grabbed, some PTI ink, along with some Memento Luxe Pigment Orange ink. Orange sequins, a PTI border die, and the Natural Beauties stamp set.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Papertrey Ink
I started by using the ink i picked out to stamp the flowers and leaves on a white panel. The flowers in this set are two layers, so i used the lighter color first, then stamped the details with the darker color.

Since the background was so colorful i decided that my main focus would pop better being black and white. So i stamped the solid flowers in Soft Stone and the details in Smokey Shadow. The leaves were stamped in the Smokey Shadow and along with the flowers, fussy cut out.

Next i die cut the fancy border from black card stock and then adhered it with foam tape across my panel. I added the flowers and leaves and last added a few orange sequins.

Happy Birthday

Hello!

I'm stopping in with a card i made for Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenges. This is for the Paper Crafting Alphabet Challenge, it was really fun and easy to do. They give a list of crafting things to do and you can use all of your first or last name or just the first three of either!

I decided to use the first three letters of my last name: W - Use a little water coloring, A - Add a border, R - Round some or all of your corners!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Papertrey Ink
So i pulled out the PTI Modern Basics stamp set and for the watercolor component, i colored the solid butterfly with three colors of Distress Markers. Then i spritzed the colored image and then stamped on water color card stock. I also stamped it again on the panel, getting a lighter colored butterfly. I just repeated this until i had enough butterflies stamped on my panel. I used Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon.

After the stamping was dry i stamped the outline butterfly over just some of the water colored butterflies and then added the antenna to those butterflies. I also used Picked Raspberry and water to flick some splotches over the panel.

Next i pulled out the Happy Day stamp set and die, cutting the label shape from some water color paper. I did the same thing with the label image as i did the butterflies, using Seedless Preserves. Then i stamped the Happy Birthday on the inside of the label.

Since i need i a border, i decided to trim my panel taking out a strip from the left side of the panel. Then i added the two pieces (minus the strip i cut) to a black card base with foam tape. A easy way to add a border to your card!! Last i added the die cut label with some foam tape and rounded the bottom two corners!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I'll be back in a while for my last card i made for the PTI Anniversary's Challenge!!

I Heart You

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day!!

Since it's Valentine's Day i'm sharing a love card i made for Essentials by Ellen February Mix It Up Challenge! The challenge is to use any Essentials by Ellen products and any Penny Black products, both together on one project! I used Ellen's Heart and Home die (the hearts) and stamps from I Heart You set from Penny Black. I am also entering this in Penny Black Saturday Challenge Use Hearts and/or Red!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Penny Black
I started by stamping Mimi holding a heart balloon on water color paper. Then i used my distress markers to color her, however this time i did it a little differently then i normally do. I usually add color with the marker and with a wet to damp brush push the color around, layering more colors or other colors as i go. But this time i didn;t add water, just colored with each marker. I did add water with the face, i use Tattered Rose for skin and it would be way to dark without the water!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Penny Black

Next i fussy cut around the top part of the image and trimmed the remaining to a rectangle and rounding the bottom corners. I found a die cut black stitched oval and i placed Mimi at the bottom of the oval.

For a sentiment i stamped I Heart You in white on black card stock, then trimmed it and rounded the bottom corners. then i just tucked it behind Mimi at her feet.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Penny Black

I picked out some pattern paper (Crate Paper - Kiss Kiss) and i cut a pretty flower pattern with a stitched rectangle. Then i picked out a pink pattern and a XOXO pattern, both die cutting them with the hearts from Ellen's Heart & Home die.
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Penny Black
First i added the oval, Mimi and sentiment to the flower pattern paper. Then i adhered the hearts around Mimi. To add a little sparkle i used my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to the dots in the balloon, bow and pink die cut hearts.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Birthday

Hello!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will be doing lots of studying and lots of crafting!! But before i got started i wanted to share a card i made for one of the Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenges, Color Recipe Cards. I picked the recipe by Laurie Willison because i need to make a baby card for a cousin. From my PTI stash i had picked out a flower set and a baby set, but as i tried arranging the stamping and die cuts, well... it just wasn;t working so i went in another direction and made it in to a birthday card instead!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Papertrey Ink
First i die cut a stitched rectangle from white card stock. Then i used the poppy stamp from PTI's Botanical Silhouette set (PTI's 2010 Anniversary stamp set). Since this was meant to be a baby card, i used the second generation stamping with the stems and flowers. But even though i used Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst for the flowers, after the second generation stamping, you can't really tell which color is which. It's not bad, but i had hoped for some variation!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Papertrey Ink

After the poppies were stamped, i used the dandelion stamp with Lemon Tart. but it was really really light (no second generation stamping here) that i pulled out Summer Sunrise. I used the light orange with the small dandelion stamp, and stamping it off before adding it to the Lemon Tart dandelions.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Papertrey Ink
My panel is about 1/4 smaller then a 4.25 x 5.5 card base and to save time from trying to match some card stock, i cut another panel that would fit my card base. With Hibiscus Burst ink pad i colored around the edge of the bigger panel, no need to color the whole thing because my stamped panel is adhered to the bigger one.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Papertrey Ink
Next i cut a strip of Kraft card stock and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set at the right of the strip. I trimmed the strip so it was only as wide as the stamped panel, then added it to the card with foam tape. Last i added a few pink and white sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you are in the midwest and northeast, stay warm!!!
