Waffle Flower Challenge October/November 2014 Take Two

Hi!!

I'm stopping by today because its half way through the Waffle Flower October/November Challenge! There is still plenty of time to play along!! We have two different challenges, do one or the other or both!! There is a photo inspiration challenge and a designer challenge!

For this card i did the designer challenge: White Space!! I started by die cutting a circle from a post it note. I placed the negative on a white card base. I also placed post it notes around the circle post it, so i wouldn;t get any extra ink on my card base. However the corners were not covered and of course the bottom left corner got ink on it!!! (sigh!!)

So i started inking up the circle with a light blue distress ink, then layered a darker blue at the bottom. Last i added just a touch of black ink to the bottom of the circle. Next i peeled away all the post it notes (and here is when i found out about that one corner with ink on it!!! :P)

Next i wanted to add some embossed images to my circle. First i used my anti-static bag, and liberally applied the powder to the circle. Then i stamped up the reindeer and a couple snowflakes from the Holiday Labels - Merry Stamp set with versamark ink. I added white embossing and melted it with my heat gun. Even with the anti-static bag some embossing powder stuck to the ink, however it wasn;t much and to me it looks like snow!!

Once the embossing was cool, i added glossy accents to the circle and yes that is a lot of glossy accents AND my hand hurt like heck squeezing the bottle!! Then added a pinch of glitter to the wet glossy accents. While that was set aside (like way aside so i wouldn't accidentally mess it up!!!) i inked up the snow globe base from the Merry set and stamped it in black ink.

Inside the base i stamped Joy in black ink and To The World in blue ink. I cut it out and when the glossy accents was dry i added it to my circle with foam dots. And wa-la a snow globe on your card!!

Ok so now i have to address the ink on the corner! Just rounding the corner wouldn;t work, so i trimmed off probably about a quarter of an inch off the bottom. Then i decided to add the same ink i used on the globe along the bottom of a card base. I added the panel the globe was on to the base with foam tape. Since the challenge is white space i didn;t do anything else, in fact i put it in a clear bag so nothing would get on it!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you will stop by the Waffle Flower Challenge and play along with us!!!

  4. Your snow globe looks like an actual globe - glittery, shimmery and 'dimensioned' with the addition of the glossy accents. Those darn ink smudges...but your rescued your card wonderfully! Soooo pretty, inspired and inspiring! I want to give it a shake to see that pretty snow swirl...
