Hello!
I hope everyone is having a Happy Holiday!! I made a card for the Curtain Call Challenge a few days ago and am entering this at the last minute! The challenge is called Candy Cane. I was thinking of the red and white stripes of candy cane in the photo when i made my card (also thinking of Valentine's Day!) I am also entering this in Shopping Our Stash Red Alert Challenge since it turned out i used a bunch of red on my card!
I started by making my background first. I placed a stencil on a white card base and i used Distress paints for the first time. I learned that the paints don't work very well with stencils, the paint runs under the stencil. Even though i didn;t get the smaller stripes i still got stripes so i am happy with the background.
I set the card base aside to dry, then die cut a heart from white card stock. I stamped the cute Mimi image, then i inked up just a few hearts on the outer edges to fill in the rest of the heart. Then i colored her and the hearts with Copic markers.
Next i stamped and embossed the I Heart You sentiment in the bottom right. I thought the card was too red, so i trimmed the card base and added a strip of green on one side. Last i added the heart with foam dots.
I hope you have a wonderful day!! Happy Holidays!!!
Dana

ReplyDeleteJust finished Christmas lunch so everyone chilling on the sofa full to bursting!
This design is just charming! Love the allusion to the candy cane and the image is just adorable. The image is well colored and cutting it with the heart die was a great choice. Thanks for accepting the RED ALERT Challenge here at Shopping Our Stash!
