Halloween Watercoloring with a Stencil and Distress Inks

Hello!

I'm sharing a card I made for My Favorite Thing's Card Design Superstar Contest! When I heard about the contest, I made a plan for each card and with small variances along the way they all turned out pretty much how I planned them in my head!! With this first card, I wanted to do some watercoloring with a stencil, but probably not the way you are thinking!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - My Favorite Things
I started by picked out three Distress Inks: Abandoned Coral, Black Soot, Dusty Concord. Then I placed MFT's Scattered Bars on my craft mat and pressed the three different inks onto the stencil. (start with the lighter color first!!) I trimmed some watercolor paper to fit a card base and added some water to the panel. Wait until the panel is damp, too much water and you can't see the pattern of the stencil on your panel. Next, I just press the damp panel on the stencil and ink.

The panel will not pick up all the ink, so I always have extra panels ready to go and do up a few more panels until most of the ink is gone! When all the panels were dry, I just picked the best one for my card today.

Next, I cut two MFT stitched ovals from white card. On the smaller oval, I used the Dusty Concord first and then added black around the edge. The bigger oval got the Abandoned Coral and black around the edge. On the smaller oval, I heat embossed the I'm Bats About You sentiment in white.

From my stash, I found some purple polka dot and black chevron washi tape and added it to my panel. Then I added the ovals to the card, trimming off the overhand from the larger oval.

I stamped the bat, moon and one cloud from MFT's Witch Way To The Candy stamp set. Then I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color them! I used FS6, IG1, IG2, IG4, IG6, LY2. I fussy cut them out and used a black marker to color the edges. Then I added them to the card with foam tape. Last I added a few black and pink (yes, amazingly I was able to match the Abandoned Coral to some enamel dots in my stash!!) enamel dots. Last I added the panel to a white card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Altenew Watercolor Stamping with Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers

Hello!

Today, I'm stopping in with a card I made for Virginia's View Challenge #23 and Altenew's Ultimate Blog Hop! The challenge at Virginia's is to use Spray, Mist, and Splatter, with my card I used a spray and Splatter.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Altenew
I started with Altenew's Painted Poppy set and stamped the poppy outlines. Then with my Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers, I colored the solid poppies, spritz it with pearlized water and then stamped. I layered a light color first, then added a darker color. For the flowers, I used Begonia, Blossom, Gold, and Sunset. For the leaf and stems, I used Moss and Leaf Green.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Altenew
When all my watercolor stamping was done and dry I pulled out a palette and squiggled the Blossom, Gold, and Sunset. I added a bit of water to each color and splattered each color on my panel. I did wait for each color to dry before adding the next color.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Altenew

When the splatter was dry I used Invisible Alpha to stamped Hello. I added a few black and gold sequins to the card and last adhered the panel to a white card base.

Art Impressions Challenge #192 - Watercolor Stamping

Hello!

Art Impressions has a new Watercolor release!! And the current AI challenge is a great way to show off these new stamps!! The challenge is Watercolor Stamping and you can use any Watercolor stamps you have!! The new release includes Covered Bridge Mini and Old Barn Mini! You can see all of the Watercolor Mini's here!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
For my card, I used the Covered Bridge Mini. These stamp sets come with directions and they are super easy to follow! I used Distress Markers to do my Watercolor Stamps, but you can also use the Marvy Markers!

If you are new to Watercolor Stamping, it's very easy! Just use the markers to color the stamp and stamp! Add a little water to spread the ink around and wa-la your Watercolor Stamping. It's super easy and I followed along with the instructions as I colored the bridge and trees. A lot of the coloring is layering the marker on, to make certain area's darker and more defined. (Color's I used are listed below with the supplies)

After my watercoloring was dry I Avery Elle Custom Panel die to die cut the nice curve. I found some brown pattern paper and added it to a white card base. Then I added the watercolor panel and trimmed off the extra from the top and sides.

From an alpha sticker sheet, I spelled out HI and added them to the right side of the card. Then I added a tiny bow that I tied just below the sentiment.

Hello!!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions
Today I have a card featuring the Backyard Boss stamp! Need a birthday card for your favorite guy? Just stamp a Happy Birthday or add a handwritten message to the inside of the card!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

The first thing I did was pick out some paper and then picked out Spectrum Noir markers that matched the paper. I used these markers to color the image, this way everything matches! I used BGR3, BGR4, BGR5, DR3, DR5, DR6, EB1, EB2, EB6, FS1, FS3, IG1, IG2, IG4, IG6, IG8, IG10, TN7, TN8, TN9. When I was done coloring I fussy cut the image out.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps - Art Impressions

Next, I used two stitched rectangles to cut some pattern paper. I added the striped pattern to a white card base and the brown faux leather pattern to the middle of the card. From the same pad, I cut a strip of gray chevron pattern and added it across the card. This strip is what my image 'stands' on, I have a thing about my images floating around in space, I just don't like it!!! :D

Anyway, along the bottom I stamped the Backyard Boss sentiment in black ink. I added the image to the card with foam tape and last added a few cork dots.

Next, I cut a piece of the sheet to fit a 4.25 x 5.5 card base. With sharp scissors, I fussy cut around the flowers and leaves in the trimmed panel. I did discard a few of the stems, as I think it was too busy with them. Make sure to color the edges with a black marker! This gives the images a nice finished look!

Then I cut a brown pattern paper from Sara Davies Signature Collection - Floral Delight 6 x 6 paper pad. I added this to a white card base and then added the flowers with foam tape.
