Today i have a card for this weeks CAS-ual Friday's challenge, birds. This challenge is perfect, i have a good friend who LOVES birds and her birthday is coming up next month, so i made the card with her in mind.
I started with a die cut bird and very lightly traced it on watercolor paper. Then i stamped and embossed a text scrip. Then i just started pulling different stamps, swirls, flowers, damask and things. I stamped out patterns using earth tone distress inks.
Once everything was stamped i used the same inks and a dried baby wipe and added color to the backgrounds. Then i spritz some pearlized water and used my finger to spread the ink around a bit. Of course with the water my stamped images blurred a little, but that's the look i was looking for so it was ok.
While that was drying i made my cardbase (5 x 7) and on another piece of kraft i traced the bird and then sewed around it. I used a craft knife and cutout the inside part of the bird to make a bird window.
I added pop up dots to back side of the bird and adhered it to the watercolor paper. I trimmed away the extra watercolor paper. Last i added a red heart to the bird.
Thanks for stopping by!
