Hello
I'm on the Art Impressions blog today with two cards that feature the new Girlfriends Flaunt It Set! For both cards I used Distress Markers and paper piecing to color the the girlfriends (they sure are having a lot of fun!!). I used two different pattern paper pads for each card and gave darker skin coloring a try!!
I started both cards by cutting stitched rectangles from watercolor card stock and then stamped the image on both panels. I picked out some pattern paper for their dresses and fussy cut them all out, but before I added them I colored their skin, hair and accessories with my Distress Markers.
I was working on the first panel and had colored two of the girls with Tattered Rose when I thought maybe I should give a darker skin tone a try! So on a scrap piece of paper I stamped the faces and arms of the women and then experimented with different colors. On the pink card I used Gathered Twigs along with the Tattered Rose. For the yellow card I Gathered Twigs for the woman on the left, Vintage Photo for the woman in the middle and Ground Espresso for the woman on the right. I think all these colors worked great for dark skin. Also if I want a more tan look, I will go over with the Tattered Rose again!
Once my coloring is done I added the paper piecing to each panel. For the pink card I cut a bigger stitched rectangle the Simple Stories - Vintage Bliss paper pad and added it to a white card base. I also trimmed a journal card and added it next, trimming off the over hang. I added the stamped panel and then a few enamel dots.
For the yellow card I trimmed some pattern paper strips from Fancy Pants Park Bench paper pad. I added the strips across a white card base. Then I added the stamped panel with foam tape and then I stamped one of the sentiments at the lower right. Last I added a few black enamel dots.
Thanks for stopping by!
Dana
