Art Impressions Challenge #158 April Showers/May Flowers

Hello,

Its time for a new challenge at Art Impressions and the challenge is April Showers/May Flowers! The design team is showing off some new Ai Watercolor stamps! The new stamps will be available shortly, plus they have some great older watercolor stamps!!

The set i am showcasing is the Chest of Flowers set. I started by die cutting a notched piece of watercolor paper. Then i used a brown distress marker to ink up the chest, then stamped it on my cut piece. With a paint brush and some water i pulled the ink from the chest lines in to color the chest, i also added some more color to the chest with the distress marker, then using water to spread the ink out. I would come back to it a little later after it had dried some to make some areas darker.

Next i inked up the three flowers and leaves, coloring them up with different distress markers. After stamping them i used a paint brush and water to spread out the color. I also added a little bit of brown ink for the ground, spreading it out with a brush and water.

Then i used Ai's FDMD set to stamp Happy Mother's Day above the chest of flowers. I added a some twine below the chest, tying it in a bow.

For the background i placed a stencil over a watercolor panel. I used some distress ink and sponged the ink over the stencil. Before removing the stencil i spritzed some water, which reacted with the ink and smoothed it out some. I let the panel dry before adding it to a white card base. Then last added the stamped panel with foam dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I look forward to seeing your April Showers or May Flower projects!!

  2. Stunning card, Dana! Your flowy, "blousey" water-colouring, especially with the flowers spilling from the chest, is a perfect technique for this image! Soft, delicate and all around lovely! Wow!
