Sweet Baby

Today i'm playing along with Seize The Sketch #19 Challenge! I am using the newly released The Alley Way Stamps: Baby on Board and Baby Talk. Here is the sketch:

I started by die cutting a oval from watercolor paper and stamping the stork and baby image. Next i used the sweet sentiment from Baby on Board and baby from Baby Talk. To color the image i used a pink inktense color pencil and outlined the baby's blanket. Then i used a Copic colorless blender to pull out the color, i really love the soft look i get when i do this. (If you try this, note that the pencils stain the Copic tip). I did the same think for the stork using a black pencil.

For the cheeks, on a scrap piece i colored a small spot of pink pencil and then used the colorless blender to pick up some of the color adding it to the baby's cheeks.

I had planned to use pattern paper, but i couldn;t find any to match the pink i used for the blanked and cheeks. So instead i found a pack of adhesive backed white canvas. I placed a stencil across it and with the same pink i used above i lightly (and i mean lightly) traced each chevron shape. Then i used the colorless blender to pull the color toward the center of each shape. I only did this about half way down the card. For the bottom half i added long wood veneer banners. Last i added the oval to my card base with foam dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
